What can we do?
How to take what we have learned and apply it to today
The Holocaust was a time when a group of people were treated terribly different from everyone else because of something they couldn't change. A lot of things are going on in the world today that are similar to the Holocaust. Pit bulls are mistreated and killed everyday. Why? Because people don't like the breed. For years and years people have assumed that all pit bulls are mean and aggressive, but the few they have seen to be aggressive were trained like that. Normal pit bulls are very nice and loving, but are still being treated badly. Many people are trying to ban pit bulls -and other dogs- from many public places. Pit bulls are being considered evil and not a good dog to have. In the Holocaust, the Jews were considered evil and they weren't even considered human. The Jews and pit bulls are treated differently because of something they cannot change or decide to have. But what can we do? Well we can do anything about the Holocaust, it has already happened but we can still help the pit bulls. One of the main reasons Hitler was successful with killing so many people during the Holocaust because there wasn't a lot of media that could spread the word so nobody knew about it. We can help the pit bulls by using media to our advantage. Media is everywhere, so we can use it to show the world that not all pit bulls are mean and aggressive. Articles, videos, pictures, we can use these to show people that pit bulls can be nice dogs and they need good homes too. Some pit bulls are very aggressive, but they are only like that for either self defense, or because they were trained to be that way. A lot of the times pit bulls are beaten and abused, so they lash out at people they feel threatened by. Pit bulls are also trained for dog fighting, even though dog fighting is illegal, so they think they have to lash out and be aggressive. How can we stop pit bulls from being abused or trained to fight? Well some adoption agencies do only let good families buy the animals they have, there are some who don't care where the dog goes. If more and more pet owners and agencies make sure the dog is going to a good home and its life isn't at stake, then the amount of pit bulls that get put down simply because they are pit bulls would become lower.
